DSU Custom Blocks

Heading

Creating the Block

  1. Add the Heading block to your editor using the ‘+’ button on the top left of the editor.
  2. Click the pencil icon on the block to switch to edit mode.
  3. Simply type in your Heading and select the Heading Type: h2 (largest size, black), h3 (medium size, black), h4 (smaller size, red), or h5 (smallest size, black)
  4. ‘Add Anchor’ option: this is useful if you have a specific section of the page you want to send users to. Choose a descriptive anchor value – so if you’re sending users to a frequently asked questions section, you could use the anchor value ‘faqs’. Then when you link to that page/section, simply add the anchor on the end of the URL with a pound(#) sign. Ex: webservices.dixie/edu/#faqs

Tips & Good practices

  • Headings show be ordered hierarchically on a page – like h1 then h2, then h3, and so on.
  • Keep headings short. 8 words or less.
  • Use break tags. If a heading is too long and one word falls to the next line, use a break (<br>) tag.

Bad Practices

  • Do not use more than one heading in a row.
